The official name of this MPA is Raja Ampat Islands Marine Park, and it is managed under the Raja Ampat Work Unit of the Kupang National MPAs Office.

The relatively 'secluded' location, comparing to other areas in Raja Ampat, is one of the reasons why the communities' livelihoods in this MPA were rather 'traditional' as seasonal fishermen and farmer, and hunter in the forests surrounding their villages.

Tourism activities in this area have increased in the past couple of years due to its secluded location, the communities' traditional lifestyles, its relatively intact coral reef ecosystem, and several known manta ray aggregation sites.
